Remote Working Strategies and the Next Normal for European Partners

The COVID-19 pandemic forced European partners to shift to remote working practically overnight. This required organizations to quickly identify strategies to manage a remote workforce. IDC's European Partner Advisory held a special session to discuss the implications of remote working on European partner organizations. Organized in a sprint format for accelerated content creation, the session revealed key insights into how partners have responded to an altered environment, what they have learned throughout the pandemic, and what they see as the main implications for their organizations and employee relations going forward.

In this document, IDC's European Partnering Ecosystems team details the outcome of the discussions and the takeaways for European partner organizations going forward. It looks at the impact of remote working on employee relations, productivity, company culture, onboarding new starters, as well as the mid-/long-term implications of the pandemic experience. Overall, partners agree some of the behaviours adopted in the last 12 months will stick, yet for most some degree of face-to-face interaction remains essential. As a result, a hybrid model will likely emerge as the future standard for most partner organizations.
